Our Policies

Important information about appointments, health requirements, and more.

Cancellation & No-Show Policy

We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice.

  • Cancellations made with 24+ hours' notice: no charge.
  • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice: a $25 late cancellation fee may apply.
  • No-shows (missed appointments without notice): the full service price may be charged.
  • Repeated no-shows may result in a required deposit for future bookings.

To cancel or reschedule, please call us at (555) 123-4567 or email hello@pawsandpolish.com.

Health & Vaccination Requirements

For the safety and well-being of all pets and staff, we require the following:

Dogs

  • Rabies vaccination (current)
  • Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccination (current)
  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccination (current)

Cats

  • Rabies vaccination (current)
  • FVRCP vaccination (current)

Please bring proof of vaccinations to your first appointment or have your veterinarian email records to hello@pawsandpolish.com in advance.

Pets showing signs of illness (vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, coughing, discharge, parasites) will not be groomed and will need to be picked up immediately. No cancellation fee applies in these cases.

Behavioral & Aggressive Pet Policy

Our groomers are experienced in gentle handling and calming nervous pets. However, the safety of our team is paramount.

  • Please inform us of any history of biting, aggression, or extreme anxiety at the time of booking.
  • If a pet becomes aggressive during grooming, we reserve the right to stop the session for safety. You will be charged for the portion of the service completed.
  • For anxious or reactive pets, we offer "introduction sessions" — short, low-pressure visits to build comfort gradually.
  • In some cases, we may recommend consulting with your veterinarian about anxiety-reducing options before the appointment.

Matted Coat Policy

Severely matted coats can cause pain, restrict blood flow, and hide skin conditions. De-matting can be time-consuming, uncomfortable, and sometimes impossible without shaving.

  • We will always attempt gentle de-matting when possible.
  • If matting is too severe, we may recommend a "fresh start" clip for your pet's comfort and safety.
  • Additional charges may apply for extensive de-matting work.
  • We will always discuss options and get your approval before proceeding.

Liability Disclaimer

While we take the utmost care with every pet, grooming does involve handling, bathing, cutting, and drying. There are inherent risks involved, including but not limited to:

  • Minor nicks or scrapes (especially on matted or moving pets)
  • Stress-related behaviors
  • Pre-existing conditions becoming apparent during grooming

Paws & Polish Pet Grooming carries professional liability insurance. In the unlikely event of an injury, we will immediately inform you and, if necessary, seek veterinary attention at our expense for any injury caused by our negligence.
